Is our new digital culture, a return to the practices and ways of thinking that were fundamental to human societies before the invention of the printing press?

The concept of “Gutenberg Parenthesis”, made by LO Sauerberg provides a means to identify and understand the period ranging between societies and subcultures, during which the mediation of texts across time and space was dominated by powerful permutations of letters, forms, pages and books. Our current transition to a world of post print media, dominated by digital technology and the Internet can be juxtaposed with the transition to a world of written and verbal transmission by the advent of printing.

The project aims to reflect on the evolution of transmitting information, knowledge and culture, within the digital age and the Internet.
